Seed - Book Idea

Seed
Only one sword between himself and a couple of friends.
He is small as a child, that's why they call him seed.
Finds a strange object (from the future) in a secret or special place

"No" she said in a way that reminded Seed that she really was just a little girl.

He is really smart, but not very appreciated by those around him.
He watches everything and everyone he loves be destroyed before his eyes.
He sends little things through time. He ends up sending himself through time to save the one he loved

It was light outside. The sun must have come up over the top of the mountain already, which meant Seed had overslept.

After he leaves home he meets two people who become his friends.

He won't take spills of war because that makes him no better than a murderer.

At one point he or one of his friends goes to a farm under the guise of farmer in order to steal. At the last minute he has a chance of heart because he begins reading a book of Proverbs or something similar.

The prison is set up so that prisoners receive food by a small floating kayak type boat floating down a canal. Why doesn't someone ride the kayak out and escape? Obviously the boat goes back around to get refilled. By scratching a mark onto a boat he finds out how long it takes to make the cycle. If you take all the foods there will be none for the prisoner next to you.
